Our story

About us

Old Baraqa (formerly “Baraka”) has stood on Chavchavadze Avenue since 1994. It is a Georgian bakery and cafe: the dough is worked by hand and baked here, and the hot dishes are cooked in our own kitchen.

Our story

For more than three decades we have served this neighbourhood, the city and its visitors. We still work to the same recipes: Adjarian and Imeretian khachapuri, Megrelian, lobiani, kubdari, achma and Gurian ghvezeli come out of the oven through the day.

For a large order we make 20-piece listi trays: lobiani, layered pastry or meat pie. These are usually ordered a day ahead.

1994

ბარაქა means plenty. Three decades on Chavchavadze Avenue, the ovens go on in the morning and the counter fills up: that is the whole idea, and it has not changed since 1994.
